why we love this

This record spirals inward and outward at once. A guitar glides over one moment, then saws through the next. As feverishly hypnotic rhythms phase in and out of reality, there’s plenty of room for surprise in between.

about the record

Fit for Consequences: Original Recordings, 1984–1987 is the first-ever archival release from Repetition Repetition, the “two-man electric minimalist band” consisting of Ruben Garcia and Steve Caton, hailing from Los Angeles in the mid-1980s.

Repetition Repetition’s unique blend of cosmic art-rock minimalism and maximalism was self-released across a series of cassettes produced in micro editions. While garnering the attention and participation of luminaries such as Harold Budd, the project remained under the radar during the band’s existence.

Fit for Consequences: Original Recordings, 1984–1987 collects select material from across the duo’s catalog, remastered and presented on vinyl for the first time. The release includes liner notes by Bill Perrine and a future world of past possibilities.
