Potapanje Brodova is a follow-up to Robert Merlak’s intricate 2020 album Finomehanika, “wherein piano, field recordings, and synths are made indistinguishable from one another,” as The Wire describes. The new album consists of selected and reworked tracks from a unique engraved USB stick residing in Rijeka's Museum of Contemporary Arts.
Robert Merlak is a Croatian musician, radio host, and DJ based in Rijeka. During the late ‘90s, he released two albums, Icepick Tracks and Albumski, on the pioneering avant-garde techno label Phthalo, which put him on the map next to fellow artists as diverse as Dntel, Daedelus, and James “V/Vm” Kirby.
