why we love this

The rubrics of a jazz ensemble are dismantled and taken in unpredictable, thrilling directions—like a cascading saxophone sprinting past a lumbering bass. A sumptuous, brooding record that taps into the depth of a moment, guided by intuition but shaped by premeditation.

about the record

The Devil, Probably is a trio composed of Patrick Shiroishi on saxophones, Àlex Reviriego on double bass, and Vasco Trilla on percussion. The six songs on their self-titled album were not created simultaneously. Instead, the works emerged through long-distance correspondence, with the artists sending audio files to one another and improvising in response. An exercise in freedom and rapport, their music is marvellously grating and sweet at once—pure devilish bliss.
