about clay bodies
Clay Bodies is a multidimensional project stretching artistic language, form, and workflow across digital and continental spheres. Baal & Mortimer, Cate Kennan, Cucina Povera, and Morita Vargas engaged in an intimate, collaborative process with Camila Apaez of Ila Ceramica. This resulted in four handmade, one-of-a-kind ceramic sculptures being conceptually soundtracked by five musical contributions recorded onto a limited-edition cassette. It comes with a series of cards mapping the process, designed by artist and florist Mayken Craenen.
about this ceramic sculpture
This piece captures the paradoxical nature of both the demos and the nature of ceramics: sturdy yet fragile, a double materiality. Cucina Povera’s initial recordings informed Camila’s sketches, the latter finding a sense of nostalgia as if moving from a place of negative space outwards and stretching across the distance.
Dimensions: L 33cm x W 10cm x H 26cm
Weight: 3.1 kg
about ila ceramica
Camila Apaez is a Guadalajara-based artist and founder of Ila Ceramica. The four vessels draw inspiration from her individual dialogue with each sound artist, with nature, amorphous atmospheres, bodily experience, and natural landscapes synthesizing into shape and form.
