Birdfriend is a cassette label run by Koshiro Hino, a Japanese musician and composer known as YPY and a founding member of the Osaka-based band goat.

This compilation features 18 tracks by Japanese artists from 2013 to 2017, previously only available on hard-to-find cassettes from the Birdfriend label.

Compiled by Hino, who also provides liner notes and cover art, the compilation showcases artists who share a love for texture, semi-skewed rhythms, straightforward yet evolving structures, and a sense of humor. Despite these common threads, there is significant variety in this release, offering an exciting and cohesive musical experience.
