about the record

Jeux d’eau is the product of an exploratory collaboration between the Copenhagen Clarinet Choir and Danish composer and performer Anders Lauge Meldgaard. At the heart of the project is Meldgaard’s work on the New Ondomo—a Japanese instrument inspired by the ondes Martenot—interacting with the choir’s vibrant, adventurous energy.

Recorded at The Village in Copenhagen, the album fuses the organic resonance of the clarinet choir with the unpredictable textures of the New Ondomo and electronics. Structured yet open, the music flows between pulsating momentum and delicate stillness, balancing lyrical late-Romantic sensibilities with the clarity and restraint reminiscent of Japanese composers such as Jo Kondo and Sueko Nagayo.

Conceived as a tribute to water and the fragile bond between humans and the natural world, Jeux d’eau is both a sonic meditation and a call to action, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in nature’s beauty while recognizing the responsibility to care for it.
