why we love this
Site Seeing is an exquisite glimpse into what feels like a video game character slowly moving across a vast arid desert. An expansive synthscape maintains a common thread across the plain, while unexpected textures and field recordings fade in and out. One can't help but want to follow โthe characterโ through the entirety of the sonic journeyโa trek that leaves a sandy footprint on the listener.
about the record
Economy of Meaning is a sound project by Danish artist Kristoffer Kjรฆrskov, operating at the intersection of sound and visual art.
Economy of Meaning (EOM) creates multilayered sound textures that unfold across diverse landscapes. Through field recordings, guitars, objects, and synthesized sounds, EOM works on the periphery of everyday accumulation, as well as meditates on the threshold between wakefulness and dreams.br/>
Site Seeing takes inspiration from the desert landscape of Sharjah, delving into the rural and urban terrains through a collage of lived moments and reconstructed memories. Built upon audio field recordings from a sound residency at the Sharjah Art Foundation in December 2021, the album gradually evolves into an ambient collage, reflecting on peripheral zones inhabited by both non-human organisms and animated objects.
