about the cd

Returning to 12k with Stella Epoca, Japanese artist Sawako presents an album that references star time and the arrival of a new age. Inspired by sky maps, planetary frequencies, and celestial events, she collapses eight years of memories and recordings into layers of sound that are fragile, human, and ethereal. Using generative methods, fragments of melodies were captured on full moons, new moons, planetary conjunctions, and other cosmic moments.

Collaborators—including AOKI, Haytao on solstice guitar, Federico Durand’s solar eclipse field recordings, Haruka Nakamura, ARAKI Shin, Yukiko Hayakawa, and gift_—add multi-instrumental richness, while Kynd’s generative album art visualizes Sawako’s hybrid digital-analogue approach. Stella Epoca is at once celestial, intimate, and profoundly immersive.
