about the record

Marcos Díaz has been part of the Buenos Aires underground for many years, involved in projects such as Bosques and releasing solo music under the name Entidad Animada. Through this project, Díaz explores sound worlds shaped by feedback and distortion across synthesizers, guitars, and drum machines, drawing on influences that hint at Stereolab, Spacemen 3, and mid-1990s shoegaze. Alongside these elements are ambient passages rubbed by the ritualistic psychedelia of Popol Vuh.

The shifting colors of his music come together within a playful, relaxed, and optimistic atmosphere that remains tinged with melancholy. Part of this tension emerges from the nature of the pieces themselves, but also from the way Entidad Animada makes space for collage-like sounds that drift in and out of textures rooted in primitive analog timbres, which inevitably causes a paradox between what feels alive and what feels inert. Entidad Animada is, in this sense, a spectrum or a vision, something ghostly, and these sounds stand as proof of its existence.

Pruebas de existencia, translated as “proofs of existence,” is a collection of recordings Díaz has made over recent years, marking his first release on Umor Rex. Some of the pieces were only released digitally, while others were issued on limited cassette editions through Fuego Amigo Discos in Argentina. Pruebas de existencia brings this material together as a compilation and remastered edition.
