Five Wooden Frames marks the return of Italian artist Giuseppe lelasi to 12k, following his captivating polyrhythmic explorations on Aix. He abandoned the guitar in the mid-2000s to focus on minimal electro-acoustic abstractions and rhythmic and groove-based music.
Once again, however, the guitar has returned as his central focus, both as a traditional instrument and as a source of sound material. The sections on Five Wooden Frames were created using continuously shifting and modulating loops of acoustic guitar glissandos, producing pitches that slide in a haunting yet spirited interplay of delicate and strangely playful textures.
