why we love this

With care and reverence, Hiroshi Ebina gathers small details from his grandparents’ world, gently holding her sewing kit and his Contax camera as a tender keepsake of remembrance.

about the record

Hiroshi Ebina’s third solo album with Mystery Circles is dedicated to his grandparents, with whom he shared a home from childhood. He describes them as a very ordinary family, with nothing particularly remarkable to say. Nevertheless, they were invaluable to him, and the impact they had on his life remains significant.

The album’s title refers to the fact that both passed away in the fall, two years apart—his grandmother in 2021 and his grandfather in 2023.

The cover image was taken by Ebina himself using a vintage Contax film camera. The two structures fading into the horizon allude to his grandparents in the beyond.
