'Smoke Rings' was originally recorded during the sessions for Jonny Nash's 2023 album 'Once Was Ours Forever', during a period of experimentation with saxophone textures. Although the piece didn't make it onto the final album, it remained a favourite from the sessions.
The track features saxophone by Casey Butler, whose playing adds a soft drifting melodic layer to the delicate synth work. The result is a gently folding instrumental that sits comfortably within the same atmosphere as the album, whilst exploring a slightly different, more 'ambient jazz' vibe.
An extended twelve minute version of Smoke Rings is also available on a 200 copy tour exclusive vinyl, alongside a vinyl only B-side 'Into Luminescence'.
