about the cassette

Gavin Vanaelst runs the space Aboli Bibelot in Antwerp, where exhibitions and musical performances happen alongside dealings in centuries-old furniture and unique pieces of folk art, or volkskunst. Gavin also makes music under the aliases DJ Charme, Kassett, and So Sorry. This is his first album released under his birth name. Takeaway Loops cycles back to the days when Gavin worked as a courier for Takeaway.

During his shifts, Gavin used his phone to capture sounds at fast food restaurants while waiting to collect and deliver orders. Later, in his home studio, he added piano and electronics to this source material. The result: a gloomy soundtrack for a shadow world—seven songs in evening blue with a bright orange glare.

  1. 1 - Falafel King 2:41
  2. 2 - Mc Donalds 0:50
  3. 4 - Dunkin' Donuts 1:34
  4. 7 - Pizzeria La Lanterna 2:37
