about the record

Emerging in the early 1990s, Stilluppsteypa began as a punk-oriented band before their curiosity led them toward abstract and electronic experimentation. As a trio of Heimir Björgúlfsson, Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, and Helgi Thorsson, they crafted uniquely unclassifiable sound experiments shaped by their Icelandic homeland.

After Heimir’s departure around 2002, Sigtryggur and Helgi continued as a duo, diving deeper into joyous, abstract electronics. Collaborations with artists such as Benny Nilsen and Melt-Banana produced acclaimed works like Vikinga Brennivin (2005) and Drykkjuvísur Óhljóðanna (2006), celebrated for their innovative approach to sound.

Schokolino Choco Loco stands as a testament to their whimsical embrace of chaos, celebrating the disorderly beauty and humor within unpredictability. Stilluppsteypa invites listeners on a hazy, immersive journey—music to be experienced, felt, and savored, where the unexpected becomes a source of boundless joy.
